Kia ora koutou,
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!Well the countdown is on and camp prep is in its final stages. I hope you are all looking forward to camp as much as I am, it's going to be massive!
Please also check the syndicate blog as there is important info that relates to all of us as a syndicate.
Thanks to all of our awesome Dads and role models who stayed the night or who attended our Turanganui syndicate sleepover last Friday. I look forward to hearing more about the highlights tomorrow and we will be holding a girls evening in the near future too.
I would like to acknowledge the fantastic leadership shown by Kia Manuel, Taimana Teneti, Tamati Ingram, Andre Tangaroa, Lena Baty-Akurangi, Raewyn Edwards and Sonny Perston at kapa haka last week. With our year 8's at tech the year 7's put their hands up to lead the rest of the school and did a wonderful job too along with Vaelyn, Paige and Hayley from room 24. Tau ke koutou katoa!
Due to our year 7's having tech in the afternoon we did not attend the year 7 assembly.
Here are a few reminders for the week:
Donut orders are due back tomorrow please. $2 per donut. So...if you purchase two you get
your Mindlab for this term paid for and you get to share or enjoy a delicious treat too!
If for some reason you missed the notice on Friday, that's okay just bring along the money for your order and we will fill one out in the morning.
For those families that have an AP running with the office this is completely optional. A treat is always nice but if you choose not to purchase any that is fine too. We just wanted to find ways to ease the financial pressure on our families as well as to get our kids to work for their extras.
Camp helper hui tomorrow night in our room. This starts at 5:15pm and will only take about half an hour. See all of you amazing parent helpers there! This camp wouldn't happen without you all so your commitment is hugely appreciated by the Turanganui teachers and tamariki.
Camp Gear list is on our Syndicate blog and a hard copy went home on Friday. Check it out and get packing! It may also be an idea to pop in a pair of rock shoes if you have them. The children have been completing Pre Camp Risk assessments which will be displayed on their blogs this week. The students will also be displaying their latest writing assessments in the near future and would love for you to give them some feedback too.
Syndicate Triathlon is on this Friday beginning at 11am. The order of events is listed on our team blog.
We would love whanau support on the day so if you have a spare hour or two the tamariki would enjoy having you there to watch them. The students will be in teams from within the syndicate. If you have access to a bike please have it ready to bring. If you don't have one we have a plan to swap with Y8's and vice versa as they go separately.
All Turanganui Taonga are strongly encouraged to complete the individual and team events either competitively or in order to meet their own personal challenge. It will be a great morning for all.
